Night People

This painting is from our field in Montana. The 12-foot-tall stump is the remainder of an old tree that was hit by lightning, and the silhouette has always reminded me of a gigantic mantis. The photo was from a summer night that was very eerie when the moon fell perfectly behind a UFO-shaped cloud. I then found myself listening to a podcast called Artist and Aliens. There is a theory that there is a type of alien called the Mantis people that are good aliens/interdimensional beings. When I heard this, it gave me the shivers. I have since then had lots of powerful shadow interactions with the art that has made the piece come to life! 
 
Great painting for the bedroom as all the stars twinkle in the darkness.
